Since launching our latest Early Partner Programme in May 2026, we’ve held discovery calls with surveyors and operations teams from removals and storage companies across the UK. We asked about the sector broadly: what works, where legacy and market tools create friction, and what removals software needs to do better.
These were not Move Agent product tests, live demos or partners requesting fixes. The participants were describing industry problems they already faced, including concerns about the accuracy and sales risks of self-filmed surveys, office teams managing conversations across disconnected inboxes, and widespread fatigue with software that looks impressive but fails under real operational pressure.
What stood out was how directly those market-wide problems mapped to the modules we were building. Here is the industry pain we heard, followed by what Move Agent built to solve it.
“Is the video survey even accurate?” → Surveyor Hub
This concern reflects a wider shift in the industry. More companies are asking customers to film their own homes before a quote, but surveyors and operators told us that this can come at a cost.
A customer with a phone may miss the details that affect the move. Just as importantly, a self-filmed survey can remove the first proper conversation with the customer: the chance to understand their concerns, build trust and show why your company is the right choice for the job.
What we built: Surveyor Hub protects that human part of the process. It gives the surveyor the tools to lead a structured, professional survey, while AI helps organise property media, access details, inventory information and reporting afterwards.
The surveyor remains responsible for the judgement that matters: spotting the difficult staircase, asking the right questions about a wardrobe or piano, and having the conversation that helps win the job. AI helps capture the detail, reduce the admin and prepare the report without taking over the relationship.
“I’ve got messages everywhere” → Customer Hub
This was one of the clearest frustrations raised in our Early Partner discovery calls. Office teams described a typical day spread across WhatsApp, Messenger, email, missed calls and website enquiries, with each conversation sitting separately and no clear view of the customer’s full journey.
It is a familiar problem for removals and storage businesses working around disconnected legacy systems. Time is lost checking different channels, chasing context and trying to work out who last spoke to the customer. Meanwhile, the customer may be waiting for a reply from a team that cannot immediately see the conversation so far.
What we built: Customer Hub brings messages and enquiries into one connected workspace, linked to the right customer and available to the next person who needs to respond. The team has the context in front of them, and the customer receives a faster, more joined-up experience.
“Can AI do the boring stuff instead?” → AI Tools, applied where they help
The conversations about AI were more practical than the usual debate. Nobody was asking for less human contact. They wanted less of the repetitive work that gets in the way of it: chasing information, formatting reports, following up on paperwork and keeping job details up to date.
That is where AI has a useful role in removals. It should reduce the admin around the job, not replace the judgement, reassurance and customer relationships that make the job work.
What we built: AI works in that supporting role. It helps organise inventories, survey media, access details and administrative tasks in the background, so surveyors and office teams have more time for the conversations and decisions that need a person.
“Does it actually connect to a calendar?” → Notifications and Job Diaries
This one came from real experience with legacy and market tools that do not talk to each other — a separate scheduling tool, a separate spreadsheet, a separate diary, none of them syncing, all of them needing manual updates. Participants described the operational visibility they needed, rather than testing a Move Agent feature.
What we built: Job Diaries gives the whole week a proper visual view — drag-and-drop, every job type at a glance, nothing hidden in a separate spreadsheet. Notifications sit on top of that, sending automated reminders and updates to both teams and customers, tied to the same schedule everyone’s already working from. No second calendar. No manual chasing. Just one plan that stays accurate on its own.
“I’m tired of flashy software that doesn’t work” → software should support the surveyor, not perform for them
This frustration came up in conversations with operators comparing different removals platforms. They were not against modern software or AI. They were tired of tools being sold as if the goal was to replace a skilled surveyor with a more impressive-looking process.
One surveyor put the point simply: they can complete a survey log in less than five minutes and produce a quote in around two. From their perspective, software that tries to “do the survey” for them is solving the wrong problem. It can add steps, reduce their control and make a fast, confident process feel slower.
The value of software is not pretending the surveyor is the bottleneck. It is giving them a better system around the work they already do well: keeping customer conversations together, capturing the right details, making information available to the office and crew, reducing repeated admin, and helping the whole job flow from enquiry to payment.
What we built: Move Agent supports the surveyor and operations team rather than taking over their judgement. A strong surveyor should be able to work quickly, stay in control and use the platform to remove friction around the job — not spend more time proving that software can imitate them.
The bottom line
The people we spoke to were not looking for software to take their place. Experienced surveyors already know how to assess a move, build trust with a customer and turn a quote around quickly.
What they need is a better system around that expertise: one place for customer conversations, survey information, job planning, reminders, payments and the admin that currently gets repeated across disconnected tools.
That is what Move Agent was built to provide. It does not ask a surveyor to hand their judgement over to AI or slow down a process they already do well. It gives the surveyor and operations team a connected workflow that keeps the detail moving, reduces the chasing and leaves more time for the parts of the job that still need people.
The aim is not more technology for its own sake. It is a calmer operation, a better customer experience and a team that can do its best work without fighting the software around it.
